Loblolly House

Deriving its name from the pines that surround it, the Loblolly House is a poetic abstraction of its extraordinary site, playing upon the relationship between nature and technology. Located on a remote island, the challenge of building with minimal infrastructure was solved by conceiving a new method of modular of construction. Developed using parametric modeling, modular and panelized components were fabricated offsite and fitted to a stock-ordered aluminum frame atop piles. The unique assembly proposes new elements for construction and consequently new relationships between architect, builder, and supplier.
